Getting into Year 2014: Five Anticipated Game of Thrones Events
2013 has been such a year for Game of Thrones. Season 3 has made everybody explode, especially because of the Red Wedding. Some companion books were also released in 2013, including the novella ‘The Princess and the Queen’ containing Targaryen backstory. Getting into 2014, fans of Game of Thrones will face several important events. Here are the 5 anticipated Game of Thrones events in 2014.
1. Free Game of Thrones screening
George R.R. Martin is hosting a free Game of Thrones screening in his own private cinema, Jean Cocteau. It is starting this month and each week Martin is showing two or three episodes of Game of Thrones starting from Season 1 to Season 3. This will lead the fans to Season 4. Martin himself is also going to appear in one of the screenings to sign books and answer questions from fans, though the dates haven’t been confirmed. Unfortunately, only fans who live around New Mexico can watch the screenings, as the cinema is located in Santa Fe.
2. Game of Thrones video game
2014 is welcoming Game of Thrones video game which is released by ‘The Walking Dead’ video game creator, Telltale Games. The game will follow the format of ‘The Walking Dead’. There will be a lot of hard choices for the game players. You can actually join the wars in Westeros and will change the storyline as you are playing. Let’s hope that the video game will be a hit in 2014.
3. ‘The World of Ice and Fire’
‘The Lord of the Rings’ has its ‘Silmarillion’. ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ has ‘The World of Ice and Fire’, which will be released on October 28, 2014. These last few years George R.R. Martin has been working on the epic book, which will tell the fans about the history of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. He wrote the book with Linda Antonsson and Elio Garcia, with the artwork by Ted Nasmith. As the story of Targaryesn has already been told in ‘The Princess and the Queen’, the upcoming book will tell us everything about Westeros, including the families that are now fighting each other.
4. The release date of ‘The Winds of Winter’
It’s not that the sixth book will be released in 2014 or even the release date will be announced. It’s just the hope that there will be something announced in 2014, hopefully the release date of ‘The Winds of Winter’. The fifth book, ‘A Dance with Dragons’, was released in 2011, 6 years after the fourth book. Although some speculated that the sixth book will be released in 2014, we finally know that it’s impossible; especially after last year Martin wanted the fans to stop pressuring him about the book. So, we can only hope that 2014 will be the year when the release date is announced.
5. Game of Thrones Season 4
The most important one from Game of Thrones events in 2014 is Season 4 itself. After the shocking Season 3, the fans are anticipating Season 4 highly. There are many new cast members and promise of big battles and more blood. There’s still no announcement on the exact release date, though we already know that it’s in spring. Based on the previous release dates, Season 4 might be released on March 30, 2014. Can’t wait for the official announcement! And trailer!
